If Trump fires Mueller, I believe he's unable to speak publicly of his work anymore, since it's classified. If a replacement makes the unilateral decision to merely shelve the investigation until after Trump's term in office, I'm not sure how the work continues. Barring impeachment, I think it'll be hard by design to pick it up again in 3 to 8 years.
