53. I watched the video. I knew a woman who stayed with her husband who beat her while she was...

Carrying their child, breaking the child's legs and dislocating the hips and the little baby had to delivered by C-section and was crippled. He also visited brothels and gave her STDs.

They were a couple my husband and I knew from college, but I had a bad vibe from him. She never did, although she came from a family that insisted she didn't need an education or learn to drive, only needed to get married and have children.

When they visited he made advances and suggested doing sadistic things to me, brought all of his porn and sex toys. He made a point of throwing his underwear on the floor, then he'd smirk at me as he expected me to bend over and pick it up and I just smirked right back. After that I told my clueless husband, who thought it was funny, no more visits, or he could go live with them.

They moved out into a rural area where he was on the radio. The child later ended up in a charity hospital to fix her bone problems and the mother rode the bus up to see her every weekend, but I went to see her every day. And then when those months were over, she was returned to that family. I know a lot about this kind of thing, but not myself personally.

My husband and I didn't approve, but back then the police didn't care. Family matters, and all of that. We had neighbors that beat their wives, their kids, their dogs. This is a long time ago and the only thing you could do was to have the men talk to them and tell them it was wrong, and they might do a few things to such abusers themselves.

There may be a history behind this here, we don't know. But she didn't look totally in love with him as he was describing his reasoning for getting out. I've seen some young women who have such low opinions of themselves, and are also not educated, or their families don't care what happens to them, that she may be one of those.

It won't do any good to get mad at this man. She wants this, or thinks it's her only way to survive and the GOP says to stay with the man no matter what he does, so this is probably the reasoning that is being employed here. Somewhere there was a post here with the words of Julian Lennon about the people in school being mocked at school, and that they may have been abused at home or have terrible problems.

We don't know.
