The Democratic Party has not been able to counter the propaganda.
Anecdotal example: I interviewed a couple with heath problems in their home after the election. The television stayed on. It was turned to Fox News. The woman had almost always voted Democratic, the man was WWII Marine-his past voting was mixed.
They both told me that Hillary Clinton had used her foundation to buy Chelsea Clinton's wedding dress-and that it was just a terrible thing to do. They did sound uneasy about Donald Trump's win but said it looked as though he was surrounding himself with good people.
Their adult children were present: they are blue collar workers. They also seemed uneasy about Trump-but talked about how tough it was for families to afford Obamacare health insurance and how high private healthcare premiums were also. -it was too expensive.
Lots of irony in the above.
The problem I see is not a particular candidates messaging. We need a platform of support that is strong enough to break through the propaganda on an ongoing basis and that can do battle in the propaganda war.
What form might it take? It might be different in different states-but it needs to replicate what the old time party was able to do
