My father isn't conservative. He's very liberal but enjoys watching it for the political spectacle. He enjoys talking about what a piece of shit he is and how much of a mess things are. I guess he enjoys it in much the way a lot of people want to watch disasters. I just told him I don't want that toxicity in my life. I keep up with developments, but as a Canadian I thankfully don't have to fear as much. Once I got my own place I cut out cable TV and haven't looked back. My father still lives on a steady diet of CNN and other political news. I don't find it healthy.
