(11,252 posts)He used to live in Vegas and ended up in the drug scene there. He moved back to Texas to get away from the culture, but ended up getting into some trouble and was arrested. His case was on deferred adjudication, and he never had any issues during the time, and his case was finally dismissed. He is completely clean and sober and has been for over 5 years. He wants nothing more than to get his life back on the right track. Because of his arrest, there isn't a school that would take him. His lawyer told him that he would be able to get his record expunged, but that was untrue, and now he has to wait 5 years from the time his case was dismissed in June in order to get a Petition for Non-Disclosure to have his records sealed for background checks. He's been out of a job for a few months since the plant he was working for filed for bankruptcy. He really thought trucking would be a great way to make a living, but there isn't anyone who will touch him even though his case was dismissed.
There are some people that are more than willing to do the work, but can't get a foot in the door.
It's sad because he is such a wonderful man, but just cannot catch a break. It's really stressed him out and he's become very depressed. I wish there was a way around it or a school that would take a chance on him. He would not let them down. It seems that once you're in the judicial system, you are held hostage by it for far too long.
