He was an American broadcast news correspondent who spent some time covering news in Germany during Hitler's rise.
In his autobiographical record of those times,("Not So Wild a Dream"
he remarked that one of the things that struck him about Germany was how like it was to the America he grew up in. (The Midwest.)
One of our blessings, I think, is how very diverse we are as a nation. But
.we need to be watchful.
