Chomsky's piece starts off with a deeply layered contextual history
regarding the Commons, starting with the Magna Carta.

I would also like to consider public institutions as part of the Commons
as well, including education, fire departments, police departments,
prisons, roads, bridges, etc. etc. in the sense that they are important
aspects of a public good.
