(21,359 posts)I have never once gotten pulled for extra search at airport security.
The few times I've been pulled over by cops for things like a busted taillight, etc., I haven't even gotten a written warning, just a verbal one.
I never got asked for verification ID at the courthouse when going through the security scanner, during jury duty.
It's an unearned privilege that sits weird with the lifetime's worth of being dismissed, talked-over, underpaid, harrassed, assaulted, presumed to care about shit I don't give a damn' about and not to care about stuff that's terribly important to me.
It feels weird that I have it, and even weirder that I don't have to pay any attention to it. That's the nature of privilege in our culture, even when it accompanies a completely opposite not-privileged status.
