(40,783 posts)I don't pay any attention to grammar Nazis. I didn't even pay attention to my middle school English teachers and they graded me accordingly. The only reason I passed was that I read a lot, learning the language by osmosis.
If I start thinking about grammar or spelling I can't write at all. Total brain freeze, English starts looking like a space alien language; it might as well be Klingon.
To the grammar Nazis I might say:
moDajvo pawIjDaq je narghpu HeSobogh SajlIj. (copied from wikipedia)
I have little respect for their pet cause. Language evolves. Maybe some of the ways I use and abuse English will be considered proper grammar someday, but I ain't counting on it.
On the other hand, I'm entirely intolerant of innumeracy. If you are going to use math you'd better get it right. And if you don't use math when you ought to, that too is unforgivable.
