It would seem from the statements of both artists, that they are done to appeal to those who knew and admired them. I would think that soon, that would make them relatively obsolete for the vast majority of their audience.
As for the Obamas, they are the most admirable the last 6 presidents, but I'm more than ready to move on. I've never been one of the gushing admirers.
