"Sarah Sanders hastily arranged an off-the-record meeting in the West Wing with Porter and four reporters: the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, the Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey, Axios’ Jonathan Swan, and the Wall Street Journal’s Michael Bender. In that meeting, which hasn’t previously been reported, Porter relayed his version of events and fielded questions from the group."

****From what I have seen, most reporters are more concerned that Axios now has more access than Politico and other news outlets.

I have not seen a justification or attempted justification for why they thought the off-record meeting would ever be appropriate under these circumstances.

Note: Kelly did not know about the meeting ... this was all Hope Hicks and Huckabee Sanders. Doubtful Sanders would have done this without Hope Hicks pushing her
