I am so sorry you had to experience that moment in time.
The idea that teachers have to mentally prepare for being a human shield is truly horrifying to me as it is I am sure to most everyone else. It terrifies me that young teachers and prospective teachers (like my daughter) have to factor this into decisions about remaining as or becoming teachers in the first place.
The loss is ours.
What have we come to.
