Social media was easy for the operatives to post memes to further their mission. DU much tougher, but some were linked here, although I'm not sure if directly by Russian shill. I see phoney (fake news) tweets linked here now and even though they are noted by many they are still discussed as real. We must be very careful to take it all with a grain of salt.

To answer your "what would an operative look like?" A skillful one would not be spotted. I'm always more cautious of a post with poor grammar, especially with dropped articles., bit there appears to be lots of DUers with poor grammar who aren't Russian shills.

I guess my main take from thinking about this is to not get excited about a single post, meme, tweet, or link. Look for confirmation. The Russians promoted their fake news and stirred the issues, but Americans ran with it.
