11. It is war and the other side is winning

For at least a decade I’ve been hearing that cyberwarfare is how the next Great War will begin.

And I think it’s not just the brainwashing of low information voters in America, not just the likely manipulation of vote counts, but iirc we know Russian hackers have infiltrated key infrastructure systems. I wonder if Russian cyber warriors brought down the reservation and flight systems of our major airlines recently. Or, worse, if cyber warriors we’re responsible for the days apart erroneous government warnings of incoming missiles in both Hawaii and Japan. Russian cyber warriors flexing their muscles?

It’s not just happening in the US. Think of the surprises with Brexit and the rise of right-wing parties across Europe. No, we are at war, in a world war, stuck with a weaponized plant for a President and a probably complicit Republican Congress. It’s not a hot war ... yet. But hold on to your hats, that may be coming, too.
