I think this was well said. I've shot both guns and arrows (which actually have much the same guidelines attached to them for safety, not surprising given that a high tension bow can do a lot of damage) at ranges, and overall think that if you are responsible with them, they are relatively safe. The problem I see is that too many people fail to understand that with freedom comes responsibility. The responsibility to be licensed and registered, the responsibility to keep them out of the reach of children and those who aren't, the responsibility to ensure that they do not become used for criminal activity. They are not fashion accessories. They are weapons, and should be treated as such.

I don't support guns of any kind for home defense. Statistically they don't make sense.
