7. What a movement . The first sit in at Woolworths in Greensboro, NC grew to 55 cities in 13 states

in less than 3 months time.
John Lewis and other Nashville's students, who were already planning their sit-ins before this event and started them only a few days after the Greensboro group, were eventually able to attain desegregation of the Nashville downtown department store lunchcounters as a result.
