...would have come with her. Until Comey fucked up the election, taking back Congress was looking probable.

Okay, let’s play. How would a Hillary Clinton presidency look?

Hillary would have hewn to Bill’s adage, “government cannot do everything but there are things it must do.”

There would be no tax cut.

No turmoil in the White House.

No looming trade war.

The Secretary of HUD would be a public housing expert, not a physician. That Secretary would have “redecorated” her office by painting the walls and replacing the dead plant in the corner. No one would have thought about her office except the people affected by it. They would have said she is a good official.

The rest of her Cabinet would have been composed of experts in their fields.

She wouldn’t have golfed every weekend. I’m not sure she golfs at all.

She would have maintained the Obama-era immigration policies of eVerify raids and checkpoints within 50 miles of the borders. Those work, even if the right wing hates them.

The president wouldn’t have fired her kitchen staff because they couldn’t produce an exact copy of a Quarter Pounder or a KFC Original Recipe chicken thigh.

The stock market would have continued on in its same boring way.

The few Republicans remaining in Congress would be holding press conferences to expose how mean and shifty she is. No one would care.

The MRA movement would complain about how “we never had a president who wore lipstick before.” In response, Urban Decay Cosmetics would release a set of Photoshopped pictures of the first 44 presidents with reddened lips to demonstrate we never had a president that would have looked good in lipstick before, either.

We wouldn’t be wondering how much Top Secret information Chelsea handed to the Russians because Chelsea would not be working in the White House.

We wouldn’t be talking about building a wall.

Editorial cartoons would be a lot more boring.

Hillary wouldn’t pardon a turkey in front of the White House then take it to the kitchen an un-pardon it. The only reason Trump wouldn’t is he prefers cheeseburgers for Thanksgiving dinner.

Chelsea would have brought her kids to the White House to visit, and Pete Souza would have lots of pictures of the First Grandkids on the White House lawn.

Fox News and the right wing presence online would still be complaining but no one would be listening.

North Korea would be contained, not emboldened.

The Middle East would be reasonably stable.

And that’s as it should be.
