What is it with neighbors anyway. Sounds like he's fixated on you based on RW media memes of evil liberals. You can't undo that but possibly you can change the subject i.e. let his attention wander elsewhere so if he does something violent it won't be toward you. I guess that means no additional signage and maybe make the existing ones less visible to him so he doesn't stare at them all day.

If he's religious that might be something to strike up a politically neutral short conversation about, like, so what are you doing for Easter, or something related to a coming national holiday like 4th of July. Not a long convo mind you but something bland to help him move on to some other obsession.

Also it sounds like you might outlast him as he doesn't seem well at all. Good luck and stay safe.
