In reply to the discussion: how would a Clinton presidency look right now? [View all]NastyRiffraff
(12,448 posts)it would be, at a minimum, it would be VASTLY better than what we have in the WH now.
But I firmly believe it would be better than that. Hillary was arguably one of the most qualified people ever to run for president of the U.S. A fair election, as someone said, would have given us Democratic control at least of the Senate. But even with an all-Republican Congress, she would have found a way to work with some of them. Not the radicals, of course, not the Nunes and the Cruzes, but many of the so-called moderates moved right to accommodate Trump and may have been more amenable to compromise.
Our Russian "problem" would have been an enraged Putin (he HATED Hillary), but that's a hell of a lot better than a smug Putin smirking over his hold over the U.S. president.
There are many other problems that would not have existed, of course, including alienating our allies and scaring the bejesus out of most of the world. But we would have had a strong, smart president committed to the good of the country and its people, and to being an engaged leader in the world. She would have made mistakes, yes; every president has. But we wouldn't be enduring the embarrassment of having a "president" who constantly lies, who has zero impulse control, who lashes out when he doesn't get his way.
We would have had, in short. a President of the United States we could be proud of.
