(4,406 posts)I think we're in the death throes of Republicanism and because they are desperate, they have been cheating to win for the last twenty years. And now they've gone to far and are going to be exposed. We have the opportunity to ride the fallout of that exposure to get real progressive change for the first time since the 1970s.
The majority of Americans favor gun control, single payer healthcare, more taxes on the rich to support a fair social safety net.
The problem is that the system is so rigged that Congress doesn't represent the majority of American people. And the 20% of the country hopelessly brainwashed by Fox News combines with the 40% of the country too disengaged to pay attention to politics and vote to hold up any meaningful progress.
We can focus on fixing the system by ungerrymandering districts, getting rid of Citizens United, regulating propaganda networks, radio stations and fake news, making it easier for people to vote, etc.
