(981 posts)I grew up in the 60 and 70s as well and it wasn't all roses. I remember breathing a sigh of relief that I got into college and my draft card was 1-H for deferment.
I walked through the combat zone in Boston with my family in the 60's and the racial tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Women who got pregnant and were under the age of 18 routinely got sent to halfway houses which were little more than prisons.
Drugs were everywhere and people that went to Vietnam came back with habits.
Child porn, abuse, and sex slavery happened back then, although you never heard about it happening

I think you wax nostalgic. Yes we have a lot of new problems that have replaced the old ones, but life's a struggle and everyone should do their part to make the world a little better and a bit more just.
I'm old, but I'm not too old to pick up a sign and protest or to help canvas for the next election.
So there....
