In reply to the discussion: Interesting-- Tom Arnold Reviews 'Roseanne' Reboot: If I Can Watch, So Can You [View all]RandomAccess

I cant get over the queasy feeling that they are gonna try and normalize Trumpism and paint everyone as sympathetic.
In fact, knowing in advance that she would be a Trump voter, I was pleasantly surprised at the way it was handled. Ultimately, it was a bit more neutral --- or both sides given more or less equal weight with a slight edge to Clinton -- than I'd expected.
I have no idea how future episodes will go, but here's the basic premise: Rosanne favored Trump, Jackie favored Clinton but got so bullied by Rosanne with horror stories of what a Clinton presidency would be that she voted for Stein and of course blamed herself for Trump's win. (I don't think the names Trump and Clinton were ever mentioned, but Stein's was.)
I enjoyed it and will continue to watch. MY one criticism was that some of her delivery was a little stiff and wooden, with a contrived feeling. But maybe she'll loosen up.

Sounds as though there will be majority emphasis on Sarah Gilbert's character rather than Roseanne

I can look forward to her views being ridiculed by the rest of the actors/characters

I really see a wealth of jokes just ready for the making and that can go for both sides.

I agree. But I think they boosted the idea that it was okay to be. It caught on.

The old show looked repulsive to me . So a reboot isn't something I would check out

Tom has a lot of time on his hands to watch TV. Or as we say in Hollywood, "He's available, still."

Roseanne Barr has hitched her star to Trump and I hope she "reaps the whirlwind".
