In reply to the discussion: Laura Ingraham apologizes "for any upset" to David Hogg after advertisers start to flee [View all]peggysue2
(12,529 posts)How quickly they turn to half-baked apologies--I'm sorry if my comments offended you; in the spirit of Holy Week, yada yada--when advertisers start closing the revenue spigot.
This is why the right-wing is so frustrated with these kids; they simply cannot pull the ordinary tricks of demonization and shaming without risking a whirlwind of criticism.
Ingraham went out of her way to humiliate an 18-year old, mocking him for 'whining' about a 4.1 GPA yet not getting in to certain schools. She's a mother herself but in the moment thought it was okay to attack a teenager for political and ideological purposes. And on this one, she was really stretching to find something negative.
As a self-indentified Christian, she shouldn't need Holy Week to do the right thing. Whatever happened to a simple apology?
I'm sorry. I should have never said that. Please forgive me.
A simple, humble Mea Culpa. To the point where the offender takes responsibility without excuse or hollow defense.
That simple humility seems beyond the True Believers.
