Roseanne Ratings Remain Strong In Week 2

38. Growing up in the 80's, I cut my teeth on sitcoms

Which led nicely into the 90's standup boom and places like Comedy Central grabbing lots of britcoms that expanded my knowledge.

What I've found is that very few sitcoms from the 80's and 90's hold up today for a range of reasons. The more recent revivals like Will and Grace don't feel like they're coming from a different place and time for the most part. Roseanne from what I saw feels like it never grew up in a way, nothing changed in terms of the look of it all and it's just a straight continuation from season 8 (ignoring season 9 and all).

I know people are all about the fact that the couch is there and the chicken shirt and all that. But it just lacks that kind of natural growth most people go through in their environment, even when you're poor. It feels like it's a show very disconnected in the here in now and not like there's twenty years between the seasons.
