had been a disciple, on an even footing with the men. There's even a Gnostic gospel supposedly written by Mary Magdalene and it reads like someone who was kept illiterate mot of her life had painstakingly written it. It's online out there somewhere and is worth reading.

The Roman papacy, of course, found it difficult to admit women were anything but walking flowerpots and only reluctantly decided we had souls so they could consign us all to hell.
