Only 4% - fewer than one in 20 - hard scientists are Republicans.

That’s because hard scientists are trained to evaluate the truth of claims. And come to their own conclusions. And they have decided that the Republican Party is a bunch of lies and bad ideas. Many college faculty are hard scientists.

The GOP wants to attack universities because there are smart people there who fight back against the lies of the GOP.
