People climbing through fences and getting repelled by hired guards with dogs made the drama that sells, men in tribal costume on horses make great visuals, and people from 500 tribes gathering to fight nasty old big oil continued to develop a great story.
Of course, when it moved to the courts it dropped off the evening news. That is when people who CARED enough to follow moved to written coverage in the MSM as the conflict progressed.
