1. As a lifetime nonsmoker, let me say that it's not just a nasty habit for everybody.

Smoking rates for the mentally ill are 70% higher than they are for the general population so something is going on there which is much more than just a "nasty habit".
I have a goddaughter with schizophrenia who lives with me and even though she vapes there are times when she feels the need to smoke tobacco so it's not just the nicotene since she can get a higher dose with an e-cigarette.
