(20,897 posts)an attorney getting fired from a law firm comes from a friend of my attorney husband. This friend was a nice man and a brilliant attorney, but, well, let's just say his manner could be irksome (he wasn't exactly the stuffed shirt type of attorney that this firm specialized in and he had a tendency to speak his mind without much of a filter).
So, the head of the firm told him one morning that he was fired and he could stay through the day, but that was it. Friend looked at him and said "okay, but you know who owns this building, right?" That's right, HE did. He said "I'll leave, of course, but I'm giving you your 30 days notice under the lease". Firm head sputtered that they couldn't possibly find an adequate space for the three-floor firm in just 30 days, let alone move the entire firm in that time. Friend said too bad, so sad, not my problem. He greatly enjoyed enforcing the lease, lol.
