will become a boss of an existing good employee, if the company is worth a shit. People change jobs for two reasons, they are undervalued by the old company, or they were a toxic presence at the old company and were driven out by other employees or management. My guess based upon what the OP provided about the new guy, the new guy was driven out of his old job after he burned all bridges with his conduct. The OP should not let puck like that trip up his own job performance by trying to set workplace booby traps for him.
