In reply to the discussion: Fuck Ron Paul. [View all]Delzars
(8 posts)I'm not a newbie to DU but I rarely post. I don't support Ron Paul or most of his policies. But he is the only candidate addressing and speaking out against a few policies I don't support. I don't support war, especially endless war. I don't support torture. I don't support indefinite detention without charges, conviction or due process for anyone, including US citizens. I don't support the imperial presidency as practiced by Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr. or Obama. I don't support the assassination of US citizens because a President just decrees it. I don't support the corrupt looting of the American middle class by the banker class (specifically aided and abetted by all the same Presidents I listed above.) I don't support the all out war on whistleblower's who expose corruption. They are heroes, not criminals. I don't support the ever growing police state. I don't support the ever growing surveillance state. I don't support the mass spying on Americans. I don't support the Obama administrations refusal to go after the worst financial criminals in world history. I don't support the Fed's implosion of the US economy through outright theft.
There is no other Republican candidate addressing these issues. The only Democratic candidate (and current President) is responsible for taking many of these policies farther than they've ever been taken in this country, so I'm not really looking to him anymore for solutions to these problems.
I think it does little practical good (beyond just venting) to say "Fuck Ron Paul." I've been a registered and voting liberal, progressive Democrat my entire adult life. And I feel betrayed by Obama and his administration. This doesn't equate to a Ron Paul vote for me, primarily because I'm a union member with a wife and children. (as well as all of his negative positions listed in this thread) But I am definitely listening and paying attention to the positions from my first paragraph that Ron Paul is addressing.
Obama really changed my world view for the worst. I think he has destroyed the "hope" and belief of an entire generation in politics and government. I personally don't believe anything Obama says anymore. If you remove what he says and just look at what he has done, it is frightening. I never dreamed my vote would result in the destruction of my privacy, due process or even my life.
I don't believe in Republicans, Democrats or candidates anymore. I only believe in positions and policies.
I don't care if Ron Paul takes votes away from Romney or Obama. I just "hope" he forces the Republocrat or Democrublican parties to face some of these important issues.
So, I guess I would add to your post title and say "Fuck Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Barrack Obama, Republicans and Democrats." And with that, I'm just venting.
Ron Paul has exposed the morally bankrupt underbelly of the the liberal/Democratic leadership in this country. As a progressive, it's embarrassing and deeply disturbing to me that Ron Paul is the one discussing and advocating these positions while the leaders on the left are silent.
