Arizona is a fucking weird state. I moved here from Utah. I knew it was a Republican state, but I assumed it'd be a moderate Republican state, you know, Barry Goldwater Republican. Nope. I've found it nearly as conservative as Utah.

Registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats, but it's worse than that. There are nearly as many registered independents as registered Republicans, but this is one of those states where "independent" really means "Republican, but too embarrassed to just admit you're Republican." When I speak with Republicans and these "independents" they usually self identify as moderately conservative, and then they go and elect some of the hardest right Republicans you've ever seen.
