An open apology for insensitive comments she made is good but either way, from what I saw, she shouldn't lose her job for it. But if she lied about it, it would have only made it worse but one also deserves the chance to come clean.
I didn't see all comments. Her homophobic comments were insensitive but also relatively mild and sadly not uncommon for the times, also on DU. Some of the remarks that were later presented as even worse, like that parts in the Islamic world are not compatible with western values weren't controversial for me at all.
