Words and attitudes do hurt and leave scars if you're the one who has to live with them.

I have nothing against Joy Reid, but I don't like the arguments where people say, "who among us hasn't..." You haven't if you've been the victim of someone's prejudice. When someone you liked says those things, it betrays trust.

At least Reid is working to repair that trust.
