(13,305 posts)the media, and unfortunately too many Democrats are treating Trump like an anomaly. The exception rather than the rule. And our obsession with impeachment and "GOTCHA!" moments is going to either backfire or not have any lasting impact because when and if he's gone the same positions will be there, the same reprehensible beliefs, but they will go back to being clouded in and obscured by more polite words and faces.
What our leaders and what few media figures we do have should be doing is pointing out that Trump is the Republican party. That there is literally nothing he believes or is doing that the Republican party has not done or wanted to do or played into for the past 25 years.
What we need is fewer clips on here and around the liberal blogosphere of "OH NO! THIS REPUBLICAN SAID THIS.....WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY SAID BEFORE!!!!!" or "THIS REPUBLICAN GOT OWNED BY RACHEL/JOY/WHOEVER!!!!!" and more of our leaders and Democratic politicians pointing out over and over and over and over again that this is what the Republican party has always stood for and will continue to stand for after Trump is done.
Also too......better messaging with regard to what WE stand for and what WE want to do.
