President Donald Trump has ordered several immediate changes to the design of his proposed border wall, a central point of his 2016 Presidential campaign.
In several places in Arizona and New Mexico, the wall will be doubled and overlapped, creating mazelike dead ends to trap illegal border crossers, and making the total length of the wall greater than that of the Great Wall of China. It will also consist of two parallel walls twenty meters apart, to make it thicker in cross section than the Great Wall. “This is America”, Trump said to a cheering crowd at a recent NRA conference, ”and we need to show the Chinese once and for all that everything in America is longer and thicker!”
When it was pointed out that this would make the proposed wall more expensive, Trump said “I have made it clear that Mexico will be paying for the wall. And we will sell advertising on the side visible from the U.S. to turn a profit.”
