In reply to the discussion: Royal Wedding 2018: Prince Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle [View all]Tanuki
(16,369 posts)22. It happens. Jackie Kennedy's father, Jack Bouvier, got so drunk that he was unable to walk her down
the aisle at her morning wedding to JFK and her stepfather Hugh Auchincloss had to step in and do the honors. President Obama and Bill Clinton, to name only a few, also had half siblings who did embarrassing things at various times. I always think it reflects well on people who turn out well in spite of questionable relatives. I'm no big fan of royals but I wish the wedding couple nothing but happiness and hope they will use their prestige and fame responsibly and in service to their nation and to humanity.

The two seem to be in love and have common interests and generally stay out of the spotlight.

That is rather elitist...you marry the person not the family. I would marry the person I loved

I'll watch just the ceremony. I still remember Diana & Charles' wedding. It's something to see.

I guess it's the tradition thing. If the Royal family is anything, it's traditional.

Thank you for pointing this out. Things happen in families, and you just deal with it...

Harry looks like his uncle: the red hair, the face. My son is a 2-generation throwback ...

I read on CNN that she's really walking herself down the aisle in a feminist statement....
