11. When I lived in Dublin for a semester back in 1998

You could get a pint for just under 2 quid. I knew that wasn't the going price anymore, so I had to look up the standard rate now. Yikes!

The funny thing is that, back then, a pint of Guinness was something like 2.25 and a pint of the cheap stout (forgot the name but they used to have ads with Japanese samurai for some reason) was 1.95. At one fine establishment my friend ordered a pint of the cheap stuff, and the barman muttered under his breath, "Cheap bastard!" Hey, we were poverty stricken grad students!
