In reply to the discussion: THIS Is What Reid Did! [View all]siligut
(12,272 posts)45. I know gossip is rampant with the LDS members I worked with, but that was personal . . .
Is there a problem with business gossip as well? That would be a huge security problem. The article at HuffPo that first broke the story said that the Bain investor called Reid on the phone about a month ago.

Saying he had "no problem with somebody being really, really wealthy," Reid sat up in his chair a bit before stirring the pot further. A month or so ago, he said, a person who had invested with Bain Capital called his office.
"Harry, he didn't pay any taxes for 10 years," Reid recounted the person as saying.
"He didn't pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that's true? Well, I'm not certain," said Reid. "But obviously he can't release those tax returns. How would it look?

I knew about Hughes and his Mormon mafia and the general belief that Mormons are honest. I also know that those Mormons claimed Hughes left a will that bequeathed something like $15 mil to them and that was later determined to be fraudulent. I think some Mormons are extra good and honest, but I think the Mormons who take advantage of that belief to swindle outnumber them now.

Why would it come down hard on him? He did what needed doing, and did it brilliantly.

McCain has a military mind, and he spent his final years on active duty MIRED in paperwork.

I can just hear McCain: "Even Cindy, with all her charities, pays a percentage or two!" nt

IIRC the "charge" against the opponent was that the opponent had congress with barnyard animals! nt

I've always thought that Harry had a lot more going on in his head than that caught in the headlight

Harry Reid is a former amateur boxer. He is no wimp. He came up in the world rough. And POOR.

Stewart is not always right. This was one time where he missed the mark by a mile.

But that would only affect Reid which isn't a big win since he's not running for anything.
