[View all]If you are determined to hate someone, anything can be viewed as an outrage and the base is so eager to believe the worst, they'll buy whatever the spin doctors are selling. And it isn't always about race either. It is basic Hate and Fear 101. You could write a book about all Hillary's unforgivable sins.
When I think back to the whole Grey Poupon Mustard outrage, I suppose that could have been a dog whistle to the base for "uppity". I remember a lot of such whistles. One minute the problem was that Obama was black and when that didn't work too well, they went with he's just not black enough.
