who get scholarships to go away to college are sometimes just too overwhelmed with the differences - both social and financial - between them and their new peers. Some were unaware of how to get help with classwork, felt pulled by families at home that relied on them to take care of things, were unprepared for the unexpected expenses, etc.

Some campuses have set up groups and get togethers of kids with similar 'at risk' stresses to support each other, with counselors, but Georgia State makes it a part of their administration.
