Some thoughts:
Sessions is protecting Mueller. As long as he is there and recused, Mueller has at least a degree of protection.
Sessions is a product of the US Senate. Blood brother. If Trump fucks with him too much, the Senate gets pissed off and impeachment conviction becomes more likely.
Sessions is possibly possessed of new religion based on conversations with Mueller. It is the religion of "Hold The Fort". Don't quit. Cock block Trump. Seems maybe Jeff and Bob are tight. Maybe.
Ol' J. Beauregard might even be a bigger get than Flynn. Sealed indictment with his name on it? Keys to the Kingdom for Mueller to use? The "true dat" from start to finish of the campaign, the transition, and on to the very recent past. J-Beau was always in the room, wasn't he, now?
