Trump claims 'absolute right to PARDON myself' in latest Twitter rant [View all]

President Donald Trump on Monday claimed that he reserved the right to pardon himself should he ever be found guilty of any wrongdoing.

“As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong?” the president asked. “In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!”

Trump’s latest rant about pardoning himself for criminal wrongdoing comes after a leaked letter from Trump’s legal team revealed that the president believes he has the absolute power to directly insert himself into the conduct of the FBI and Department of Justice — a power that includes shutting down investigations of himself and his associates if he wants to do so.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani over the weekend also said that Trump could have shot former FBI Director James Comey and it would still be impossible to indict him.
