I think it's all New York Society's fault. If they had shown him the love and subservience he feels he so richly deserves, maybe he would have been content to keep his disease confined to his fellow crooks.

But no, they didn't really care to socialize with an immature, boorish, uncouth lout with a mammoth ass and a possum's pecker. I can't imagine why.
