(68,644 posts)It's a great idea, that workers in a big box store would be really knowledgeable about what they sell.
The truth is that they aren't usually. I can't blame them. That's why the OP, and you, and I, are wise to do our research online and then go with our list and make the best deal.
But does it really seem reasonable to you that one could go down to the big box store and successfully educate the worker, or expect them to know as much as we do about workers' conditions and NAFTA, etc.?
I just don't think so, Zalatix. I think it's unrealistic and was a little bit mean for the OP to put all that on the kid.
The kid shouldn't have rolled his eyes, and he should have said, "Ma'am, I just don't know that much about these things, maybe my manager can help you."
But he didn't, he screwed up. I blame Lowe's, I blame OSH and Home Depot and all the chains, and I shop at my local independent ACE whenever I can, even paying more for items, just to support that model.
I don't like what Lowe's did in this case, but I like what the OP did in this situation even less.
