Do not let Trumpists pretend he solved a problem or did the right thing [View all]
Trump created this horror show. He chose to separate children from their parents to try to create negotiating leverage. He used them, used their lives, used their pain as a means to an end. He treated them as non-persons.
He was enabled by racists in the White House and cowards in Congress who did NOTHING to stop him. They couldn't even muster up the courage to speak against it at first. Once the polling numbers came in they spoke out, but still did not ACT. Even after Trump signs his little paper, no action from Congress during this sordid mess.
Trump gets no credit for reversing himself when going in that direction in the first place was a moral abomination. You don't get brownie points for *stopping* behaving like a monster. You shouldn't have been doing it anyway.
And he's going to pretend like it's all over now. It is not. Every reporter, every pundit, every news anchor from now until the end of time should be asking Trump these questions:
How many of the children you separated still haven't been reunited with their parents? Where are these children? What did you do to their parents? Do you even know?
How many of the children you separated have gone missing? Who is responsible for finding them? Are you even looking?
How many of the children you separated have persistent developmental and psychological problems? How are they going to get treatment? Are you going to pay for the damage you caused?
Never let him pretend he didn't do this. HE DID THIS. He owns it. Forever.
