11. Normalization

Jun 2018

There's a desperate attempt by some in the media to ameliorate the grossness, the lack of competency and sheer cruelty of the Trumpster and his odious acolytes.

But that's a fool's errand in light of the current scandal turned to tragedy du jour. Precisely:

Where are the Babies? Where are the Girls?

Sorry but this is not normal.

When you have the Trumpster threatening to discard due process--throw 'em out, forget due process--or falsely claim that immigrants are invading and/or infesting our borders, that is the mindset and language of a blatant racist, the love song of White Nationalists.

And Stephan Miller is the architect of this policy, convincing the Trumpster and his cohorts it will be the winning policy in November.

This is not about using the right fork at the dinner table. It's about a mindset that is inherently immoral, inhumane--using children as bargaining chips and separating families on the false claim and fear of an invading army.

Sometimes you have to call an action out for what it is and label people for what they are.

More importantly, what we need to do as Dems is change the narrative argument, the direction it's meandering into and that the Trumpster is now repeating. I heard it again today. It's either his way--deport 'em, forget due process--or open borders. Which he claims is what the Dems truly want.

That is absolutely not the choice in front of us.

We need to clarify the argument and the narrative going forward. But the media needs to stop twisting itself into pretzel shapes.

Because this is not normal. And politeness will never set it right.

"filthy puddle of diarrhea"? SharonClark Jun 2018 #14
Well, "filthy" is redundant. "Neonazi" would seem a reasonable compromise. lagomorph777 Jun 2018 #16
