Top Dem: 'Buckle up' for 'wild' months ahead in Mueller probe [View all]

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, on Friday said people should expect a "a wild couple of months" ahead in the Russia investigation.

While hosting a dinner for more than a 100 people at his house on Friday night, the Virginia Democrat joked before the crowd: "If you get me one more glass of wine, I'll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know."

Mueller is the special counsel investigating the 2016 presidential election and Russia's involvement. He has issued several indictments and received guilty pleas from some former Trump campaign officials as well as former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

"If you think you've seen wild stuff so far, buckle up. It's going to be a wild couple of months," Warner continued, according to Politico.
The dinner was reportedly part of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's annual Majority Trust retreat.

Warner's remarks arrived shortly after attorneys for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort asked a judge to bar any mention of President Trump from Manafort's upcoming trial, new court filings revealed.
