I maybe overly optimistic, but if we can prevent Trump from naming another nominee and we vote in a disciplined manner thereafter, the damage is unlikely to be more than a decade. I say this because if Trump is blocked like McConnell blocked us, and we elect a popular democrat in 2020, that person can potentially appoint up to 6 justices if we support him or her and vote in all elections.
