Just whining, criticizing and hating won't get us anywhere. We have to be able to explain and persuade those who disagree or criticize us to understand us, to join us and to work with us to improve our country.
My dad used to say that when someone is very critical of someone else in a mean way and points to the fault in someone else, that is probably the very fault the person doing the pointing has him/herself.
And it is true. Trump is a prime example of someone who sees in others the faults he has in himself.
We are better than that. We can look our own faults in the eye and try to improve ourselves. Self-criticism is a tool for improvement. Criticism of others is only useful because it points to things in ourselves that we need to improve.
